昨日はGoogle I/O祭りでした。VR関連興味ある方はスタンドアロンのヘッドセットが出ると予想している人も多かったんですが、結果はGear VRと同様のスマートフォン差し込み型だったようですね。ただ、結果的にスマホの方に注目がいって、いくつかDaydream対応端末も予定されてるということから、改めてスマホの機能拡張が話題になりそうです。
特に4Kなんて別にスマホでいらないと思っていたんですが、VR用途となると必要性を感じるかもしれません。先日、Nokiaの360カメラ「OZO」を体験したんですが、残念ながら体験端末がGear VRだったんですね。あの映像が綺麗だったらまた違った没入体験ができたかと思うと確かに、興味が湧いてきます。
